A city that stinks, in which buildings crumble from weather and age, a city with noise, bangs and squeals, stuffed with people and easy to get lost in, even with the best maps, is an honest city.
Of course we prefer our cities to be clean and fresh, quiet and clearly structured, with the right amount of green here and there.
But, honestly, are we clean and quiet, calm, balanced or green?
I don’t think so. Maybe that is the image we create, but in all honesty we stink of perfume and sweat, we crumble inside, we get tired, we shout and yell and snort and sometimes even we don’t know what’s going on in our constantly vibrating minds. Sometimes we get lost.
But it’s okay.
